COMMENTS
When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comment form as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam.
We may send an anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) to the Gravatar service to check whether you use Gravatar. See the Gravatar privacy policy: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After we approve your comment, your profile picture will appear publicly next to your comment.
COOKIES
If you leave a comment, you can opt in to save your name, email address, and website in cookies so you won’t have to re-enter them next time. These cookies last for one year.
When you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days; screen option cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” we keep you logged in for two weeks. We remove the login cookies when you log out.
If you edit or publish an article, we store an additional cookie that contains the post ID of the article you edited. This cookie contains no personal data and expires after one day.
Although we display advertising on this website, we do not collect personal data beyond the cookies described above, and we never sell your data.
EMBEDDED CONTENT FROM OTHER WEBSITES
Articles on this site may include embedded content (for example, videos, images, or articles). Embedded content behaves the same way as if you visited the source website directly.
Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, apply additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including when you are logged in to that website.
WHO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH
If you request a password reset, we include your IP address in the reset email. We do not share your data with anyone else.
HOW LONG WE RETAIN YOUR DATA
If you leave a comment, we retain the comment and its metadata indefinitely so we can automatically recognize and approve follow-up comments instead of holding them in moderation.
If any users register on this site, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. Users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also view and edit that information.
WHAT RIGHTS YOU HAVE OVER YOUR DATA
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you provided. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, except for data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
WHERE WE SEND YOUR DATA
We may check visitor comments through an automated spam detection service.
